Last fall, Kaitlin (Kate) reached out to me about taking photos at their wedding this spring. Up front, she told me that their date was not yet set-in-stone because her fiancé, Douglas (Doug), was currently in Ranger school for the U.S. Army. After he finished all of his schooling, they reached out to me again. They were thrilled to hire me for the wedding!
Fast forward to Friday, Kate and Doug showed up with smiles on their faces and excitement in their eyes to step into the next chapter of their lives. Their wedding colors were white, peach, and pink, which complemented everyone in the wedding party so nicely. Doug, now an Army Ranger, wore his military uniform, along with two of his groomsmen, who also currently serve in the armed services.
Their ceremony was on an outdoor balcony. The balcony overlooked the rolling country side, with a view of downtown Fort Worth in the distance. Following the ceremony and portrait photos, the groomsmen created a saber arch. They used military sabers to help introduce the newly married couple as they walked into the outdoor reception area. As they entered, guest held sparklers as they shared their first dance. Following dinner and cake cutting, the maid of honor, best man, and the bride’s father told very moving stories and sent well wishes to the newly married couple.
After the first two dances, the DJ got the party music going and almost all of the guest joined in for dancing on the beautifully lit dance floor. I was sad to have to leave the party, but I am so thankful that Kate and Doug allowed me to capture their special day!
